Product Description For Our Nickel Plated Copper Covered Steel Wire
Copper covered steel wire is a bimetallic material that contains a low carbon steel core which is covered with copper offering 40% conductivity. We over plate Nickel to meet the various industrial needs of our clients. While copper brings electrical conductivity to the steel wire, the steel itself contributes to the strength of the conductor. This makes our product perfect to be used for applications where medium conductivity and high strength are required.

ADVANTAGES OF NICKEL PLATED COPPER COVERED STEEL WIRE
- Nickel-Plated Copper Covered Steel wire is used in cabling systems with operating temperatures up to 260°C.
- Not easily solderable, Activated flux is required. Nickel Plated Copper Covered Steel wire is specified for cables to use in hazardous or potentially high temperature environment. Nickel Plated Copper Covered Steel wire find use in electronic components.
- Typically specified at 50 micro-inches as per ASTM B 355 for continuity of coating. Increase in Nickel Plating thickness ranges from 2% to 27% by weight for demanding high temprature application.
LIMITATION OF NICKEL PLATED COPPER COVERED STEEL WIRE
- Soldering is difficult in Nickel Plated Copper Covered Steel wire compared to Silver Plated Copper Covered Steel wire and Tin Plated Copper Covered Steel wire and require an activated flux for soldering.
- Nickel Plated Copper Covered Steel wire will not be used where magnetic effect play role in insulated wire.
- The conductivity of Nickel Plated Copper Covered Steel wire is the very low compare to Silver Plated Copper Covered Steel wire thus it will slightly increase resistance.
